Ebook About
A life changing cross country journey where dirt roads rule, fair maidens are won and dragons are tamed.“Jeff Fletcher has written a lyrical tale that includes redemption, bushels of lessons and hard-won wisdom (the wisdom that the less wounded leave by the side of the road), humility, courage, love and friendship, and the joy of getting where you’re headed to discover the journey must continue. I look forward to his next adventure.-Jim Pilgrim Follow along on a life-changing, fifty-five-hundred-mile ride on a motorcycle named Marilyn.“A very relaxing read. Made the mistake at first to zip through it as I have never been a book reader. Then, I slowed down and read every word. It put me at ease, as the author goes through years of preparing for this great motorcycle adventure. Superb advice for a beginner or an experienced rider who can benefit greatly from Jeff’s experience. I learned a lot.Turn off the TV and enjoy this relaxing read!”-MARK SAMPSON OF BIG DOG ADVENTURES Believe it or not, there are more miles of back road dirt in this country than interstate highway miles. There are more remote places where one can get blissfully lost than there are fast food joints.Marilyn Across America will take you for a ride on some of the most remote roads in America, where pavement is limited and epic adventure lies around every bend.See what it’s really like to spend a month on a motorcycle. Read about planning a route, packing, choosing a motorcycle, navigation and the hardest part of all, leaving home.“I enjoyed this book. An easy read, this book will encourage you to seek Adventure. Not the hype but a simple reminder that Adventure is just outside the door. And if you open the door you will never be the same again...”-BRUCE CASEY“If you ride or have ridden trail bikes during your lifetime and have never heard of the Trans America Trail, you need to expose yourself to the trail by reading this book. After reading Marylin Across America, I'm already debating which trail bike I would want to acquire to ride the Trail. The idea of seeing America from dirt roads and not from a super freeway, seeing it almost the way one would have seen it 100 years ago, is supremely appealing for some reason. The people that you will meet, the sights you will see, this book will both prepare you and encourage you.-A FELLOW RIDER“The storytelling compels us to continue the read, ready our bikes, and eventually, hit the road to our own adventure. Thanks for the motivation!”-WADE “THE WANDERER”“Love this ride and writing. I sit here wondering, if I ever want to be that old man sitting and talking to a rider about back when I rode. I just don’t think I’ll go gently.”-STEVE AUKLR“As others have said, you pen a good read. Thank you, sir, for riding, thinking, writing, and thriving.”-JATHKA JOE “Well written, a lot of your soul to be found in those words”-A FELLOW RIDER“Thanks for this great event you took us along on.You are an incredible writer and do hope you write another.”-A FELLOW RIDER, “BOB”“Thank you for the stories and entertainment. Also, thank you for the bits of wisdom I have gleaned from reading your words. Carry on, keep riding, and best of luck wherever the road or trail may take you.”-A FELLOW RIDER“Just came across this yesterday, and boy, do you have a penchant for writing. Love the penmanship, the way you told your story, and your travels! An inspiration to many more that will follow in your footsteps, to blaze their own trails. Thank you for sharing.”-A FELLOW RIDER

Book Marilyn Across America: The Trans-America Trail: A Motorcycle Travel Dual Sport Adventure Review :

Well, couple of things. There is a lot of things I can identify with the author on with him “finding himself” or whatever the reason for his troubles. I also sail, ride bikes, have an RV etc etc, all the earmarks of “the individual great escape”. But I don’t want to wade through almost 40% of the book listening to him whine about relationship losses (trying to forget my own losses) or about reconditioning a sailboat. The title says: “Riding Marilyn Across America: The Trans American Trail...” So why would I want to wade through at least 40% of other unrelated things before you even find out which bike he finally lands on to ride? The second thing is: Before he ever gets started riding he is giving you advice like this was his fifth trip across the trail. All kinds of sage advice. He hasn’t even left yet. It seems un-genuine, like poser material.Does he write good? Yes. Is he someone who can tell a good story? Well, I can’t be sure because of the above two points. I certainly don’t want to listen to any more relationship whining. It’s too close to home and something we probably all are trying to get past. I just want to read about the TAT, the bike, how many times he had to pick it up, the friends he met, the people he helped or helped him, the unique places. If it comes later on in the book, well, I’m just jaded now. Maybe in the future when I want to “find myself” I’ll pick it up again.
If you ride, or have ridden trail bikes during your lifetime and have never heard of the Trans America Trail, you need to expose yourself to the trail by reading this book. After reading Marylin Across America, I'm already debating which trail bike I would want to acquire to ride the trail. The idea of seeing America from dirt roads and not from a super freeway, seeing it almost the way one would have seen it 100 years ago, is supremely appealing for some reason.
